{"id":49,"date":"2018-06-05T14:42:19","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T14:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arirespiratory.scot.nhs.uk\/?page_id=49"},"modified":"2018-06-06T09:45:06","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T09:45:06","slug":"physician-associates","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.arirespiratory.scot.nhs.uk\/?page_id=49","title":{"rendered":"Physician associates"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"h.p_sYcXIo0GHTdm\" class=\"hJDwNd-AhqUyc-qWD73c jXK9ad D2fZ2 OjCsFc wHaque GNzUNc\">\n<div class=\"jXK9ad-SmKAyb jXK9ad-SmKAyb-c4YZDc\">\n<div class=\"tyJCtd mGzaTb baZpAe\">\n<h2 id=\"h.p_W915SEVuHTdo\" class=\"zfr3Q JYVBee\">Physician Associates (PA\u2019s)<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"n8H08c UVNKR\">\n<li id=\"h.p_VCLIyc9gA4JD\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">Within the respiratory team there are 2 permanent Physician Associates who work on a rotational basis between the bronchoscopy service and Ward 107.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_-__BeNdSA4JE\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">Permanent PA\u2019s : Arianna Misacas and Ashley Smith<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_pTr4ntzwA4JF\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">There may also be newly qualified intern PA\u2019s working within the department at any given time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h.p_N1zm17UlA4JG\" class=\"zfr3Q JYVBee\">Wh0 are Physician Associates?<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"n8H08c UVNKR\">\n<li id=\"h.p_nVfpiTrXA4JH\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education, who work alongside doctors, physicians, GPs and surgeons.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_T2BFkyIHUkdY\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">They provide medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_CQVwa8VNUoKW\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">Physician associates are dependent practitioners working with a dedicated supervisor, but are able to work autonomously with appropriate support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h.p_utWE_mPBA4JH\" class=\"zfr3Q JYVBee\">What do Physician Associates do?<\/h2>\n<p id=\"h.p_zDjfKaYzA4JI\" class=\"zfr3Q\">Physician associates work within a defined scope of practice and limits of competence.
