{"id":6,"date":"2018-03-27T12:33:30","date_gmt":"2018-03-27T12:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arirespiratory.scot.nhs.uk\/?page_id=6"},"modified":"2018-06-05T14:34:44","modified_gmt":"2018-06-05T14:34:44","slug":"our-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.arirespiratory.scot.nhs.uk\/?page_id=6","title":{"rendered":"Our Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 id=\"h.p_xXyHeoP0CBDe\" class=\"zfr3Q OmQG5e\">What services do we offer?<\/h3>\n<p id=\"h.p_0bQ7JKjSCBZ3\" class=\"zfr3Q\"><strong>In-patients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"n8H08c UVNKR\">\n<li id=\"h.p_fklgmAHt2ODx\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We have a 30 bedded ward (Ward 107, Emergency Care Centre) immediately adjacent to a Medical High Dependency Unit.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_nxY-X2pc2SZm\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We provide a Consultant delivered service (one Consultant on call 24\/7 for 1 week, called Consultant of Week A) and another consultant (Consultant of the Week B) tasked with referrals and boarded patients. See our &#8220;Who&#8217;s Who&#8221; page for other members of the team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"h.p_GwXir8zTCBZ4\" class=\"zfr3Q\"><strong>Out-patients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"n8H08c UVNKR\">\n<li id=\"h.p_lW584Pss2VTo\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We provide a wide variety of clinics and services every day, with approximately 10,000 clinic attendances each year.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_-LEu0bpQzRFl\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We travel fortnightly to Elgin, Banff and Peterhead to provide satellite clinics.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_DkCi9Lfg2aIG\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We provide all the services expected of a tertiary referral centre including Sleep Medicine, Lung Cancer, Interstitial Lung Diseases, Airways Disease including Difficult Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Pleural Disease, Tuberculosis and Cystic Fibrosis.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_wVETTHp1zkAG\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We host a satellite clinic for the Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit (from Glasgow).<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_lYJHYYDB2baH\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">All Scottish centres refer to colleagues at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle for lung transplantation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"h.p_JRleVg3wCBZ4\" class=\"zfr3Q\"><strong>Our &#8220;team&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"n8H08c UVNKR\">\n<li id=\"h.p_elXDxlwr2mk9\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">Within our Unit we actually have lots (!) of mini-teams in various sub-specialities.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_M6PLtWgL2o4j\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">Our staffing includes <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/med-staff-consultants\">9 medical consultants<\/a>, many other doctors in training, 2 <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/physician-associate-team\">physician associates<\/a>, multiple specialist nurses including those running our <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/bronchoscopy-team\">bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound service<\/a>, a <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/lung-physiology-team\">lung physiology team<\/a> (with services including cardiopulmonary exercise testing and bronchial challenges), <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/physiotherapy-team\">physiotherapists<\/a>, <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/pharmacy-team\">pharmacists<\/a>, dietitians, healthcare support workers, <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/whos-who\/psychology-team\">psychologists<\/a> and many others.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_ccb6CjE62rON\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We also regularly host <a class=\"dhtgD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenlungs.com\/for-staff-students\/education-teaching\/for-medical-students\">medical students<\/a> and those from other disciplines, and they are also welcome members of the team during their time with us.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_I9bLjafo2svH\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We also have close contact with colleagues in other medical specialities, notably cardiology, renal and rheumatology.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_Dv9nlO1U0nhi\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">We have an in-house cardiothoracic surgical team for those patients requiring surgical lung biopsies, thoracoscopy and other forms of surgery.<\/li>\n<li id=\"h.p_SGY0zpEz2tdu\" class=\"zfr3Q TYR86d\">On site we have a large Intensive Care centre and provide the only extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) centre in Scotland and participate in the UK network to offer this life-saving therapy to those in need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What services do we offer?
