Aims

  • To provide a rapid and supportive diagnostic service for patients with suspected lung cancer.
  • To provide timely in-patient and out-patient treatment for lung cancer.

  • Cardiothoracic surgeons – Mr Hardy Remmen, Mr Mohammed Khalil, Mr Keith Buchan
  • Clinical oncologist – Dr Claire Stilwell
  • Medical Oncologist – Prof Marianne Nicolson

How are patients referred?

  • Most people with symptoms suspicious of lung cancer will be referred to the Urgent Suspected Cancer clinic by their GP.
  • Your GP follow a referral process, further information (accessible only if you are a health care professional on our Intranet) can be found by clicking here.
  • Usually a CT scan of chest is done as an out-patient before seeing a Respiratory doctor.
  • Patients are typically seen within 5 days of a CT scan of chest.
  • Some people are admitted directly to the Respiratory wards or transferred from regional or island hospitals.
